Hi everyone. Penny Black has recently released it's Christmas products and I'm happy to playing with with some of them. :) Today's focus is on Heartsong (31-086). It's a gorgeous stamp of a sweet winter bird on a branch filled with berries.
The above card starts with the image being stamped in Toffee Crunch ink onto mixed media paper. I like the soft outline that makes it look closer to no-line watercolouring. I watercoloured using Distress re-inkers and then added some "snow" using a white acrylic pen. The new frame (Classy Frames 51-826) was cut from deep blue card stock and adhered to the card front. I cut two more of just the frame from tan card stock, to give added depth to the frame.
A simple sentiment from the same stamp set, is stamped in the same matching ink as the background card stock to finish the card.

The next card uses just part of the Heartsong image, inside the Posted Stamp (30-985).
The outline is stamped in Shadow Grey archival ink and the bird image is stamped in black. I again used Distress Re-inkers to watercolour the image. I masked off the inside of the stamp and sponged with more ink to add a bit of background colour. More images were stamped in the Grey ink to finish off the postage stamp and it was die-cut using the matching die (Postage Cut out - 51-778).
I used the Melody embossing folder (65-006) with real red card stock to enboss a strip, tapping lightly over the top with Candied Apple Distress Ink pad to add some colour to the highlighted areas. I used that at the bottom of my card, popping up the posted panel over top. The sentiment (from the same stamp set) is stamped in black to finish the card.

Two beautiful cards, Loll - card one looks like a painting in a vintage frame, gorgeous! Love the postage stamp version too & what a great sentiment!!
Two wonderful cards! I love that bird that you watercolored so beautifully! Both designs are a great showcase for the bird and branches.
Both cards are lovely.
Both cards are absolutely BEAUTIFUL Loll! You've colored both of those songbirds so perfectly and they look so at home perched on those branches! Lovely, lovely cards my friend! Hugs. :0)
Love the colors on both of them, Loll and the way you've framed that sweet little bird on each one! Beautiful cards!
Loll, both of these cards are so pretty! The way you shaded the framing and colored this sweet little bird on both cards is just lovely.
OMG...Thank you for sharing Two Beautiful cards using the Perfect Birds, Lolly:-) Both cards are favorites, dear friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
Two fab Christmas card designs Loll, the little bird reminds me of an English robin. :)
Two beautiful cards Loll. I love the snowy effects and the postage stamp die xx
Loll, I just love that bird on a branch - two really lovely cards using all these wonderful new PB products!
=]
Beautiful cards using that lovely stamp! I particularly like the colour scheme and the splatter of snow in the first one. The postage stamp die and stamps makes a great card design for the second.
Two beautiful cards Loll using this very pretty set of stamps by PB, and the shaped die cut frame around the first looks gorgeous surrounding by that pretty blue, and then tan for the frame edge, and the second in the postage stamp shaped frame and with the added red strip across the card underneath it which complements the red berries in the image this time. The bird looks great as a robin on the first and so pretty with green leaves and lots of falling snow on both. x
Two gorgeous cards Loll, beautifully coloured.
Liz xx
So beautiful, Loll! I can just hear these birds singing. Your shading is lovely, the colors warm and inviting while at the same time portraying a chilly day. Beautiful coloring. I love them both, including the sentiments.
Two fabulous cards!
These are beautifully designed, Loll but your incredibly perfect water color took center stage! It caught my eye on all three cards, particularly the no line watercoloring one. These are done spectacularly!
I'm in love! That bird stamp is wonderful made even more so with your spectacular coloring of it, Loll. I just got the frame and love the way it looks surrounding the bird.
What a beautiful stamp, Loll, and you've colored it so perfectly. I'm also fawning over that frame... must get...
Oh Loll, what a beautiful pair of cards - you have showcased the stamp so sweetly on both cards
Blessings
Maxine
