For the above card I started with stamping the main image, Messenger (Penny Black) onto mixed media paper using black pigment ink. The image was heat set before watercolouring with Distress Inks and Zig markers. The small rectange stencil from Background Basics (Penny Black) was placed over top before sponging with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink around the inside edges. The Double Frames (Penny Black) were cut from red card stock and patterned green card and layered over top of the image. To finish, the sentiment (from the same stamp set) was stamped in more black ink. The sponging and double frames give this a vintage look.
Made a second card using everything the same as above, except for reversing the order of the card used for the double frames ...
I fussy-cut the bird and pinecone after watercolouring with Distress inks on mixed media paper. The full image was stamped again onto a patterned paper leftover cut from the center of the frame in card one. The fussy-cut cardinal and pinecone were adhered over top of the bottom image to add depth (paper piecing). I used my zig markers to add colour to the pine branch. The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in Candied Apple Distress ink to finish the card.
Sending the above card to:
1) Rudolph Days Challenge - September. Thanks Helen!

You know how much I love those frames - did you also know that I'm a bird lover? It's not Christmas without at least ONE cardinal! Three gorgeous cards, Loll - I especially love that last CAS one!

I love your multi-card Christmas posts! It's encouraging and I sure do need to get up and go on the Christmas cards. These are all so beautiful. The cardinal is the prettiest little messenger!
I love Cardinals, Loll, well any bird actually, and you colored them beautifully. They look especially beautiful in the winter when the trees are bare and their color shows up like a beacon of light in a cold world.
Love this beautiful cardinal, Lolly! You've colored him so well and each way of framing his is fantastic, even using the center cut out from the frame!
Three fabulous examples using this pretty PB stamp set Loll, and the double reverse scallop frames look great on the first two reversing the colours of red and green, and the piece from the centre of the word covered green works brilliantly as a background on the last ( I tried to read it and it sounds like Shakespeare). The bright red cardinal on the pinecone branch looks gorgeous on all three cards. x
A trio of prettiness, Loll! You've made that fabulous cardinal shine. Between you and Michele, I might be forced to buy that wonderful frame!
Three wonderful variations with the cardinal stamp, Loll. Love the framing / layering on the first two, and the paper piecing on the second.
The frames really set off and focus the eye on the Cardinal Loll. Robins are our go to Christmas bird but your Cardinals certainly pack a festive punch. :)
Oh Loll ... these are all just awesome! Beautiful coloring/design! I love cardinals ... I watch them all winter long at our feeders! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Simply Clean & Simple challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.

Two beautiful cards, and the beautiful cardinal is a perfect messenger for your Christmas wishes!
Wow these are so gorgeous! Love those frames!
Three STUNNING cards Loll!! Your Cardinal just couldn't be any prettier and I love how you reversed the framing in the first two and the more CAS version in the 3rd. And your fussy cutting skills on that 3rd card are AMAZING!! A lovely, lovely trio of cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)
Both cards are SUPER Loll and I'm in awe of your painting of this cardinal. We have lots of cardinals here. I'm also amazed that you are willing to fussy cut, something I try to avoid but sometimes am forced to do it. Love there.
A beautiful image and you created three cards that look so different but are all gorgeous.
That cardinal is gorgeous, I love all the ways you framed him, I especially love the use of the grey stamped background ♥
Well done - three gorgeous cards Loll, these PB frame dies are really cool... has me inspired.... hugs Robyn
Your coloring of the cardinal is beautiful, as are all 3 cards. The first one is my favorite. I love the way you used the frames.
